At Spond, we’re always listening to your feedback and looking for ways to improve the app for you. One of the most requested features has been the ability to mark messages as unread, and we’re excited to announce that it’s finally here. Whether you’re a busy admin managing multiple group chats or just trying to keep on top of important updates, we know how helpful it can be to come back to conversations when you’re ready. Well, the wait is over! 🎉
Let’s take a look at how this new feature works and how it can make managing your messages smoother and more efficient.
1. Swipe Right for Easy Access
We know how busy life can get, and we wanted to make managing your chats as straightforward as possible. With a quick swipe right on any message thread, you’ll see the option to mark as Read or Unread. In just one swipe, you can instantly mark a conversation as unread by tapping the Unread icon.
Imagine you’re in the middle of organising an event and receive a key message just as you’re heading into a meeting. Instead of worrying about remembering it later, simply swipe right, mark it as unread, and come back to it when you’re ready. It’s like a handy bookmark for your chats, helping you stay on top of important conversations.
2. Long-Press for More Options
If you prefer a more considered approach, try the long-press option. By pressing and holding a chat thread, a menu will appear with the choice to mark the conversation as Read, Unread, or Archive it. This method is ideal if you like to be more deliberate with how you organise your messages.
Finished with a conversation but don’t want to delete it? Archive it. Need to remember to follow up on something important later? Mark it as unread with a long press. This feature gives you the flexibility to manage your messages in a way that suits you best.
3. Bulk Select for Efficient Management
For those managing several chats at once, particularly group admins, we know how overwhelming it can get to stay on top of things. Whether you’re running a sports team or organising an event, keeping track of multiple messages can be a challenge. To make life easier, we’ve added a bulk select button, located just next to the + button at the top of your screen.
With bulk select, you can choose multiple chats at once and mark them as Read or Unread in one go. For example, after a weekend full of activities, your inbox might be packed with messages. Rather than going through each chat individually, you can now manage them all in a few taps, giving you more time to focus on what’s really important.
4. Swipe Left to Archive or Delete
Sometimes, a bit of tidying up is in order. With our latest update, you can swipe left to quickly archive a chat, helping you to declutter your inbox.
This feature is designed in line with iOS design patterns, offering a seamless experience for iPhone users. Android users will notice that while the design may vary slightly, the functionality remains consistent across devices. No matter what platform you use, managing your chats is now faster and easier.
Android vs. iOS: What’s Different?
While the Mark as Unread feature works the same across Android and iOS, there are a few slight design differences. Android, as always, follows its own unique design style, so the look and feel of the process may be a little different from the iOS version. However, the functionality is the same, so whether you’re using Android or iOS, you can enjoy all the new features with ease.
Mark As Unread: A Feature Inspired by You
This has been one of our most requested features, and we’re delighted to finally deliver it to you.
