In May, the Spond team had the privilege of supporting and sponsoring the incredible Lava Cup at Falkirk Stadium — and what a weekend it was! As one of Europe’s most inspiring grassroots football events, the Lava Cup brought together over-40s players from across the continent for a festival of sport, health, and community.
From the moment we partnered with the Lava Cup, we knew we were joining something special. The tournament’s mission goes beyond football; it’s about supporting men’s physical and mental health, creating spaces for connection, and raising funds for local charities. Watching 16 senior teams from Iceland, Portugal, Germany, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, the Orkney Islands, the Isle of Lewis, England, and Scotland compete and bond over the weekend was a true testament to the power of sport to unite.
