Newport Charity Uses Spond Superdraw Funds for Vital Christmas Hampers

Newport Charity Supports Local Families with Superdraw FDu

A Newport-based charity is helping hundreds of Welsh families to enjoy Christmas with the gift of hampers, partly funded by a Spond Superdraw fundraising campaign. Rewild Play supports hundreds of families with children and young people who have additional learning needs, disabilities, mental health conditions, or attachment disorders.

Founding of Rewild Play

Rewild Play was established by Sian Lewis-Evans, a mother of four, after she identified a significant gap in support services for her son diagnosed with ADHD. Local options were limited to arts and crafts groups, which didn’t offer young people access to outdoor activities and safe, supervised environments. Sian took action to change this and now collaborates with over 340 families across South Wales, utilizing Spond—a popular sports team management app in the UK.

Integration of Spond in Charity Operations

“We started using Spond to organise events and process payments over a year ago and I genuinely don’t know how we managed without it,” said Sian. “The ability to organise a fundraising campaign in the app is great for us and, as a charity, it’s a gentler way to raise money. Times are hard for everybody right now and even trying to source free raffle prizes from local businesses has never been this difficult, so Superdraw has come at just the right time.”

Success Story from Spond Superdraw

Spond Superdraw, a monthly prize draw accessible to all groups using Spond, offers entrants the chance to win significant prizes, including a guaranteed £10,000 each month. Kayleigh Howells, a supporter of Rewild Play, won a Sony PS5 in the October Superdraw, demonstrating the draw’s benefits to the charity’s community.

“When you think of Spond, you tend to think of sports teams and clubs, but as Sian has clearly demonstrated, the app is useful to anyone running a grassroots organisation in the UK, and our fundraising solutions are equally relevant to all our users,” said Julian Bewley of Spond. “Sian has such an inspiring story to share and the whole Spond team is pleased that, thanks to Superdraw, she’s now closer to her fundraising goal for the festive period.”

Future Fundraising and Support Opportunities

Sian will be using the funds raised towards Christmas hampers, which the charity will be sending out to hundreds of users in time for the festive season. “With so many people suffering in the cost of living crisis, our Christmas fundraising efforts this year are more important than ever. I’ve already set up our November Superdraw campaign to help us raise even more.”
