Grassroots clubs are about to get a bigger stage. Spond has been announced as the new Official Team Management Partner of the Novuna London Athletics Meet, and Presenting Partner of ClubConnect, putting the app squarely behind the young athletes who make up the sport’s future.

The partnership means Spond will play a central role in supporting the ClubConnect relays, the races that bring together some of the country’s most promising young athletes from London, the Home Counties and beyond. These aren’t just curtain raisers. They give club athletes the chance to compete on the very same stage as the biggest names in world athletics, on one of the sport’s biggest days.

Event Director Cherry Alexander says the partnership is about giving those young athletes the spotlight they deserve:

“We’re delighted to welcome Spond on board and have their support for our rising stars within the ClubConnect races.

“The ClubConnect relay races feature brilliant young athletes from teams across London and the Home Counties. Thanks to this partnership we are able to increase the prize fund and shine a spotlight on these fantastic races, which will open the Novuna London Athletics Meet.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Spond and help profile team and club athletics, while creating even more opportunities for young athletes to experience competing on one of the sport’s biggest stages.”

For Spond, it’s a natural fit. The whole point of the app is to take admin off the plates of coaches and volunteers so they can spend their time where it counts, on the athletes. Charlene Kemp, UK Country Manager at Spond, explains why this partnership matters:

“We’re proud to be supporting the Novuna London Athletics Meet. Grassroots clubs are the lifeblood of athletics, and this partnership lets us shine a light on the teams and young athletes working so hard behind the scenes.

“Spond exists to take the admin burden off coaches and volunteers, so they can focus on what matters, developing talent. Partnering with an event of this stature, and standing alongside these brilliant young athletes as they compete on the same stage as the sport’s biggest stars, is exactly the kind of moment we want to help create.”

What’s at Stake in ClubConnect

ClubConnect is British Athletics’ club points campaign, running across both the Indoor and Outdoor Championships, with elite male and female athletes earning points for their club every time they finish in the top eight of an event, from 8 points for first down to 1 point for eighth.

At the Novuna London Athletics Meet itself, each age group races winner takes all, with the top club walking away with a £500 grant. It’s a genuine incentive for clubs to get behind their young athletes, and exactly the kind of grassroots moment Spond wants to be part of.

A Stage Shared With the Best

The Novuna London Athletics Meet is part of the Wanda Diamond League, athletics’ elite one day meeting series and home to 15 of the most prestigious events in the sport. In 2025 alone, the series drew 400,000 spectators, aired in 170 countries and reached five million social media followers worldwide. The 2026 season runs from Doha on May 8 through to the two day series final in Brussels on September 4 to 5.

It all adds up to one thing: grassroots athletes, competing at a genuinely world class event, backed by a partner built to support the clubs behind them.

How Spond Can Support Athletics Clubs

Partnerships like this one show what’s possible when clubs have the right tools behind them, and that support isn’t limited to Diamond League events. Any athletics club, whatever their size, can use Spond for athletics clubs to manage memberships, fixtures, and communications without the admin headache. Coaches and volunteers spend less time chasing payments and more time on the track, and with Spond free to use, there’s nothing stopping a club getting started today.
