Darren Griffen, a railway worker and golf enthusiast, from Guildford, Surrey, has been unveiled as the lucky winner of the £1,500 first prize in Spond’s Christmas Superdraw.
Darren, 54, plays golf with Chris Wheal, whose son Ollie, 10, plays for South Park FC. The club started a Christmas Superdraw campaign in Spond to raise funds for new equipment. When Chris asked, Darren was only too happy to help out.
A Worthy Cause for Christmas Superdraw Winner
When the news of his win came through, Darren was overjoyed: “Winning this prize just before Christmas is incredible. It’s going to make our family holiday extra special, and I’m already planning a golf trip next year,.”
For Darren, who’s been married for over 20 years and is a proud father of three, sports has always been more than just a game. He added: “I’ve played football all my life and understand how important grassroots sports are for kids like Ollie. Being able to contribute, even in a small way, feels really good.”
£2,500 in Cash Prizes for Superdraw Winners
Darren was one of three winners in Spond’s Christmas Superdraw, with £2,500 in prizes given away and thousands more raised for grassroots clubs and groups across the UK.
