In a remarkable display of dedication and community spirit, FC Pontefract’s very own Matilda Stenton, 10, has emerged as the top fundraiser in Spond’s Halloween Superdraw. Matilda is the inaugural winner of Spond’s Superdraw fundraising incentive, which means she will receive a £100 Amazon gift card, having sold more entries than any other seller across the UK.
Her monumental fundraising efforts not only bagged her the gift card prize, courtesy of Spond, but also secured her team a dream opportunity to play at the famed Elland Road, home of Leeds United.
Matilda took Superdraw fundraising to a new level
With a little help from her mum and stepdad, Matilda raised over £500 to support FC Pontefract U11 girls. She told Spond: “It’s so surprising to win against so many people! I just wanted to support my team and help us play at Elland Road. It wasn’t hard really. Just telling people about it seemed to do the trick!”
Lucy Crosby, Matilda’s proud mother, said, “It’s been a whirlwind of excitement at home! To think that Matilda’s passion for football and her genuine desire to help her team could achieve this is mind-blowing.”
Nothing short of inspirational
Laura Brook, club secretary at FC Pontefract, couldn’t agree more. “When we got the chance to play in a tournament at Elland Road, the club took the initiative of covering each team’s £100 deposit, then we set them a target to fundraise the remaining £560 per team.
“Matilda took this challenge head-on, and I’m thrilled to say that thanks to her dedicated efforts, her team have already reached their target via Spond Superdraw. Matilda’s commitment has been nothing short of inspirational.”
